An aortic dissection is a tear in one of the layers that make up the aorta. The aorta is the largest artery in the body, which makes this condition particularly dangerous and often fatal. The longer the delay in treatment from the moment the dissection occurred, the lower the chance of survival. So, how can a quicker way to detect aortic dissections be created? The solution proposed is to develop a program to detect aortic dissections from a CT scan quicker than if they were to be analyzed by a radiologist.
