The purpose of this project was to design an efficient small-scale fogponics system. Fogponics is a method of growing plants without soil in which fog is generated in a closed system to provide exposed plant roots with water and nutrients. The first phase of the project consisted of identifying problems through preliminary research and proof-of-concept trials. The second phase involved designing, building and testing the prototype which included a humidity and temperature sensor array. The final phase included designing and producing 3D-printed components and building microprocessor-controlled elements to optimize the growth environment and to encourage the popularization of fogponics.
