ProtoFlow is a flow meter built using an innovative, low cost pneumotach consisting of stacked printed circuit boards. It can be used to assess and monitor lung function by measuring three values, FVC, FEV1 and PEF. Calculation of these variables requires a pneumotach that can accurately correlate flow with the pressure measured across it. This prototype design was successful, as verified by a straight line relationship between flow and pressure and subsequent testing with a medical grade flow.
